Yeh School Hamare Shaan!
The city of Mumbai is a busy city it is populated by thousands of people. Hill road is one of the many busy roads. On this road is one of the oldest structures in the history of Bandra that’s still standing. Many commuters on their way to work don’t give it a second glance this grand building is none other than ST.STANISLAUS HIGH SCHOOL!!!! Even the schoolboys don’t now much about this school and how lucky they are to be in this school. Some of our boys even had their fathers and grand fathers and even great grandfathers [ in this school]. It is quite an honor and let me fill in on some prime Stanislaus history:
It was founded in the year 1863 by the fathers and brothers of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It was first just a simple boarding school and then it grew to become this grand structure. Jesuit education is inspired by a vision of a man drawn from the life and teaching of Jesus Christ whom has always been respected and admired by the people of India. It is also based on the principles of character-formation elaborated by Ignatius Loyola. This vision and these principles give Jesuit institutions a specific character and set before their staff and students ideals of humanisms and service towards which they are invited continually to strive to.
In the modern sense the school is changed tremendously from punishing boys by giving them a rap on their knuckles (!!) to actually understanding the children and trying to solve their problem vocally. Father Lawrie has made a real tremendous impact on the school. He has consented to the touch up of the hockey ground so the school may be host to many hockey and football tournaments - a big thank you to Father Lawrie who has contributed more than any other principal in this school and he has also founded the St. Stanislaus N.I.O.S. to help boys with various learning problems. THANK YOU FATHER LAWRIE!!!
When you look at how far out this school has come it makes every boy from this school want to say….
YEH SCHOOL HAMARE SHAAN!!!
